Daniel Grant Fugate

by DFH Inc. on 06/24/22

Daniel Grant Fugate, 57, of Morristown, departed this life on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at his residence.

Grant was a die-hard Las Vegas (Oakland) Raiders fan – Silver & Black all day – Cause there is NO other way. Grant loved his dogs, as he, the “Dog Whisperer,'' trained several dogs throughout the years with great success. He coached rec-league basketball and football for several years and enjoyed sharing his skills with the youth of his community. To most, he was “Uncle Grant,” as everybody was “Nephew” to him. Grant loved the Lord with all of his heart and encouraged others to trust God just as he did! He always kept a smile on his face and a positive word, a true attribute of Christ.

Grant was preceded in death by his father, William “Pressy Noe” Fugate; mother, J. Aileen Yoe-Carter; adoptive parents, Catherine and Coby Fugate; brothers: William “Moses” Fugate and Jerry Houston; and sister, Tina Ann Blevins. He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Tanika Taylor, Derek (Stephanie) Fugate, Aaron Fugate, and Daniel Fugate II; grandchildren, Marley Fugate, Xander Buis, Mac Fugate, Kymer Fugate, Major Fugate, Luna Rae-Ann Fugate; brothers: Freddie Olden, George Fugate, Coby Fugate, and Larry Hester; sisters: Rena’ Olden, Ulinda “Puddin” Fugate, Rhonda Lynn “Susie” Fugate, and Jamesina (Arthur) Smith; aunts: Betty Jo Ely and Sarah Dorothy Campbell; mother-in-love, Rosalyn Thompson; sisters-in-love: Courtney Thompson and Shama Thompson; former spouses: Crystal Fugate and Carol Sue Gregory-Fugate; and a host of friends and family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 2 pm to 3 pm at Dockery-Senter Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow with Pastor H. Roger Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Russellville Cemetery. Services entrusted to Dockery-Senter Funeral Home.

Eddie was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on May 30, 1931 to Roosevelt and Julia Mae Guthrie. He graduated from Orange Training High School and Morristown College. He excelled in football, archery and other sports. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving his country in the Korean War. On October 14, 1956, he married his sweetheart, Geneva Moore.
