Current Obituaries

Jimmy Wayne Furgerson, 74 of Bean Station Tn, formerly of Everts Kentucky passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at his home with his Family by his side.  Born July 12, 1948 in Harlan County Kentucky.  He lived in Bean Station for 22 years and drove a tractor trailer.  He was a former coal-miner.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Olene Furgerson, bothers;  James and Billy Furgerson,

Sister; Louise Furgerson, Mother and Father in law Bob and Linda Brock, Sister’s in Law Derevia Blair and Mary Lou Furgerson.

 

Survivors include his wife of 22 years  Christina (Chris) Furgerson, Two daughters; Ashley (Josh) Denton, Harristown TN, Jesssica Reed and Portner Christopher Baker, Bean Station , TN.

 

Bonus daughters Jamie & Travis Thompson Morristown, TN.  Betty Fuson, Bean Station , TN.  Siblings; Tommy & Chris Furgerson, Judy and Rick Shelton, Carolyn Howard and Partner Kelly Trooper all of Everts Kentucky, Roger Furgerson of Morristown, TN. Sister in Law Teresa & Robert Caudill of Holmes Mill Kentucky and Brother in Law, Rev Mike Blair also of Holmes Mill, Kentucky.

 

Surviving is granddaughter Natalie (Boog) Denton of Morristown, TN whom he loved with all his heart along with his Bonus grandkids Addison & ALyciana Thompson and Ameerah Dailey all of Morristown, TN.  He had several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Billy Wayne and Veronica Fergerson whom he adored very much.  He also had two Furry friends that miss him very much ACe & Max Furgerson and his two birds, Nekko and Skittles.

 

Jimmy always looked forward to his poker nights with his buddies even in his last days.  He also loved fishing and driving a truck up until April 2022.   He was not ready to give up all the things he enjoyed and people he loved.  He fought up until the last breath he took.  He didn’t want to leave his family.  He will be cremated so he can remain at home with his wife that he loved very much.  A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their services.

Linda F. Purkey, age 72, departed this life and was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 12 2022. 

She loved the Lord and her family more than anything.  Her love and compassion led her to serve many in her own way.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Delcie Gibson, her youngest sister, Rita Kaye Murphy, and her dear friend Lisa Purkey.  Left behind to celebrate her life is her loving husband Jay Purkey, her only child Tonya Marsh-Smith (Tyrone Smith), Sons by heart Scott Purkey (Toria Carbonaro), and Robbie Purkey (Nikki Purkey), sisters Carolie Gulley (Billy Gulley) and Shirley Taylor (Roger Taylor), grandchildren Aeriel Cope-Smith, Jasmine Collins (Jennifer Carroll), Torin Purkey, Shiann Purkey, Tyler Blake Purkey,Kaylynn Rhea Purkey, Heather and Austin Hazlett,  and great-grandchildren Charles Rylan, and Nathan Braylan.  

Her Celebration of Life will be at Dockery-Senter Funeral Home in Morristown,TN on July 16, 2022 at 11am with all other services to follow.

Matthew Aaron Sherles, 36,  passed away July 7, 2022 at Trousdale Medical Center. He was born January 4, 1986 to Edward and Jannell Sherles. 

 

He was preceded in death by his adoring father, Edward Sherles, grandparents Morris Sr. and Ethel Sherles and Eliza and Johner Simonton, uncles Robert and Roger Sherles and Charles Parkey, and aunt Betty Courtney. 

 

Before Matthew's struggles, and even after, he always had a great multitude of loyal friends. He definitely wasn't perfect, but he possessed a charisma that seemed to draw people to him. 

 

He is survived by his loving mother, Jannell Sherles, of Morristown, TN, sisters Renee Knaff (Kerry) of Morristown, TN and Robyn Sherles (Mech) of Roseville, CA, neice, Topaz Knaff of Morristown, nephew T'vari Knaff of Knoxville, TN, uncles Morris Sherles (Deborah) of Morristown, Thomas Sherles of Russellville, TN, Mack Sherles of Russellville, TN , aunts Edith Parkey of Clinton, TN and Darlene Sherles of Morristown, and many cousins, other relatives, and dedicated friends. 

 

He will be laid to rest at Russellville Cemetary on Friday, July 15 at a graveside service at 2 p.m. following a brief viewing time from 1-2 p.m. at Dockery-Senter Funeral Home. This will not be a formal funeral, so please come as you are.
