Billy Manuel Goodson, Jr
by DFH Inc. on 11/25/21Billy Manuel Goodson, Jr. was released from earthly life on Thursday, November 18 at Forth Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was the third son born to the late Billy M. and Mary M. Goodson. It's unusual that Jr. is part of the third son's name but Billy Sr. made that decision with four words: Look at his hands, Billy Jr. was an absolutely excellent guitar player -- a skill, talent passed down from Billy Sr. who, in his earlier years had his own band, played the guitar and the upright bass. Billy Jr. spent many years as a road musician performing with Chuck Berry, Bill Withers, Earth, Wind & Fire and others. A common, often spoken expression of him was "Bill can pop'em strangs!" Billy Jr. too, was equally talented on the base guitar but preferred either the lead or rhythm guitar.
