Gladys Dorothy Parkey

by DFH Inc. on 12/25/22

Gladys Dorothy Parkey, 90 of Morristown, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Flora Kyle, husband, A.R. Parkey and daughter Dorothy J. Fortson. Also, her brother June Kyle and sisters, Josie Kyle and Lucille Neal.

Gladys was lovingly known as NANA to her grandchildren and all their friends because she welcomed them into her home and treated them just like grandchildren. She was her happiest with a house full of laughter from all children. Soon everyone called her NANA.

Gladys was a faithful member and church mother of New Beginnings Ministries in Whitesburg, which she loved and looked forward to each Sunday and Wednesday until her health declined. She loved everyone and was a strong inspiration to everyone she met. Nothing was more important to her than her love for Jesus and her family and grandchildren. She would still tell anyone especially family to get in church and serve the Lord before it’s too late; because Jesus loves you too much not too and I do too.

Gladys leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted family Flora (Rodney) Houston; Rickey (Tammy) Parkey, Susie (Michael) Washington and Charlie Kyle. Grandchildren Jonathan (Micheline) Parkey of Birmingham, AL, Grant (Toni) Anderson of Nashville, TN, Inika (Eric) Vance of Roanoke, TX, Toby Senter, D’Shaun (Tosha) Anderson, Christy Parkey; all of Morristown; Anetria (Tracy) Burriss of Nashville, TN and 22 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28 from 12:00-1:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Michael Washington officiating at Dockery-Senter funeral home. Interment will be immediately after service at Bent-Creek Cemetery in Whitesburg.
