Kyle, Jr., 61,
of 4986 Barton Spring Road passed on March 24, 2015 at Morristown Hamblen
Healthcare after a long bout with a lung disease.
Greg as he was known throughout East
Tennessee was a deacon, trustees and Treasurer of Tabernacle Baptist Church in
Whitesburg, TN; Sports Photographer for the Citizen Tribune; and the official
Photographer at Walters State Community College. According to J. B. Pectol all
the photos at Walters States were taken by Greg.
Greg was an exceptionally talented photographer. His
shot of a ballerina in flight, taken appropriately at WSCC, won first place in
the state and stands among the best work he did.
“Greg Kyle was an outstanding photographer,” said
Citizen Tribune Editor/Publisher R. Michael Fishman “But more than that he was
an outstanding person. The impact that he leaves on Morristown, Hamblen County
and the Lakeway Area will last generations, both through his work and the
relationships he built.”
Walters State Community College President Wade McCamey
states, “During his over 27 years of dedicated service as Walters State’s
photographer, Greg brought state and national recognition to the college
through outstanding photography. He was among the best in his profession.”
Greg received the Tennessee Press
Association’s Photographer of the Year Award in 2010 and 2012; Union of
Churches and Ministerial Alliance of Hamblen County and Vicinity Community
Service Award in 2012.
Greg was preceded in death by his
father, Gregory Kyle, Sr.; grandparents, Robert and Edith Kyle; and Leora
Arnett Bedford and Connie M. Jones.
Greg leaves to cherish his memories:
his devoted mother, Mrs. Allyne Kyle; three sisters, Karen, Bobbie, and Loma
Kyle; two nephews, Matthew Kyle and Mackenzie Rogers all of Morristown; devoted
friend and special sister, Kim Slater of Morristown, TN; two aunts, Ruth
Coclough of Kingsport, TN and Georgia Kyle of Whitesburg, TN; one uncle, John
Melvin Tedford of Houston, TX; several cousins and friends to include his
church family, the staffs of Citizen Tribune and Walters State Community
College.
The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 5 pm
Friday, March 27, 2015 at Dockery Funeral Home, Inc., with funeral services to
follow at 5 pm, with Rev. H. Roger Mills, Jr. officiating. Interment will be
held at Bent Creek Cemetery in Whitesburg, TN.
Because of his love for education and arts the family
request memorial contributions be made to Walters State Community College
Foundation, P. O. Box 1508, Morristown, TN 37816 in Greg’s memory In lieu of
flowers
