Mr. Gregory Manual Kyle, Jr., 61, of 4986 Barton Spring Road passed on March 24, 2015 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare after a long bout with a lung disease.

Greg as he was known throughout East Tennessee was a deacon, trustees and Treasurer of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Whitesburg, TN; Sports Photographer for the Citizen Tribune; and the official Photographer at Walters State Community College. According to J. B. Pectol all the photos at Walters States were taken by Greg.

Greg was an exceptionally talented photographer. His shot of a ballerina in flight, taken appropriately at WSCC, won first place in the state and stands among the best work he did.

“Greg Kyle was an outstanding photographer,” said Citizen Tribune Editor/Publisher R. Michael Fishman “But more than that he was an outstanding person. The impact that he leaves on Morristown, Hamblen County and the Lakeway Area will last generations, both through his work and the relationships he built.”

Walters State Community College President Wade McCamey states, “During his over 27 years of dedicated service as Walters State’s photographer, Greg brought state and national recognition to the college through outstanding photography. He was among the best in his profession.”

Greg received the Tennessee Press Association’s Photographer of the Year Award in 2010 and 2012; Union of Churches and Ministerial Alliance of Hamblen County and Vicinity Community Service Award in 2012.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Kyle, Sr.; grandparents, Robert and Edith Kyle; and Leora Arnett Bedford and Connie M. Jones.
